QatarEnergy, Shell seal 20-year naphtha supply deal
QatarEnergy has inked a landmark 20-year agreement with Shell International Eastern Trading Company (Shell) for long-term naphtha supply. The agreement signals continued growth for both companies, with QatarEnergy solidifying its position as a key player in global energy markets and Shell benefiting from a reliable supply of naphtha, a vital component used in petrochemical products and fuels. The deal, set to commence in April 2025, will see up to 18 million tonnes of naphtha delivered to Shell. It marks QatarEnergy’s first-ever 20-year naphtha sales contract and the largest of its kind to date. The agreement was formally signed by Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and president and CEO of QatarEnergy, who expressed his satisfaction with the deal. “We are delighted to sign QatarEnergy’s first 20-year naphtha sales agreement. This is the largest and longest to date and reflects our commitment to building stronger relations with established end-users and partners,” he said. Minister Al-Kaabi also highlighted the deal’s significance as part of QatarEnergy’s broader strategy to deepen ties with key industry players. “Today’s signing further strengthens QatarEnergy’s relationship with Shell, which is not only a reliable naphtha off-taker but also a strategic partner. We look forward to building on this longstanding relationship and achieving greater mutual success,” he added.
