41% rise in the registration of Emirati women from government and private sectors

The Abu Dhabi Pension Fund (ADPF) has proudly announced an impressive 41 percent increase in the registration of Emirati women from both the government and private sectors since its establishment, reflecting the UAE's steadfast dedication to empowering women across all domains. This remarkable growth has been highlighted in an official statement commemorating Emirati Women’s Day. As of the first half of 2024, the total number of Emirati women insured by the Fund has reached 61,408, accounting for 52 percent of all insured citizens in the Emirate. This is a significant leap from just 11 percent at the Fund's inception in 2000, showcasing a transformative shift in women's participation in the workforce. Current data reveals that 39,791 of these women are employed in the government sector, while 21,617 are in the private sector. Notably, the proportion of Emirati women working in the private sector and registered with the Fund has surged by 13 percent over the past three years, highlighting their expanding roles in diverse economic landscapes. The Fund also reported that 5,350 Emirati women have retired, making up 30 percent of total retirees registered. These retirees have an average service length of 20 years, with a retirement age of 48, notably younger than their male counterparts, who retire at an average age of 55. Furthermore, a significant increase in the number of Emirati women with over 25 years of service has been observed, reaching 1,438 as of June this year. This trend underscores the unwavering commitment and resilience of Emirati women as they skillfully balance their professional ambitions with familial responsibilities. The data illustrates that Emirati women have made substantial contributions across a wide range of sectors, excelling in fields such as healthcare, social services, and education, alongside finance, insurance, and information technology. Their diverse participation serves as a powerful testament to their vital role as key contributors to Abu Dhabi’s economic landscape.
